When Christopher Wren retired from the New York Times, he walked alone 400 miles from his office in Manhattan to a house he'd bought in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Along his way through wildernesses forested and urban, Wren discovered an America as unexpected and intriguing as any thing he'd encountered over his years as a foreign correspondent.
His journey reacquainted the walker with himself, and taught him that home is not merely a place, but a state of mind. Walking to Vermont just might make you want to begin your own long walk home.
